Nothin’ to Do Blues composed by Martha Mier. For Piano. Piano Solo; Solo. Early Elementary level piece for the Piano Solo event with the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Festivals Bulletin 2008-2009-2010. Blues. SMP Primer Level (Early Elementary); NFMC Level: Pre-Primary Class. Sheet. 4 pages. Published by Alfred Music (AP.22438).
Any young child who has ever complained about having “nothing to do” will relate easily to the lyrics of this blues solo. The single-line melody, written in 4/4 time and in Middle C position, is divided between the hands. Accidentals occur throughout the piece in both treble and bass clef. These accidentals, coupled with a moderately slow tempo, help to create an authentic blues sound. The optional teacher accompaniment provides a rich harmonic background and an opportunity to emphasize a steady tempo.
